Kestrel does not remember his previous lives, though tales of his deeds are easy enough to come by. His followers are glad to recount them when they seem relevant, though whether they choose to skew the details, he can't say. His latest rebirth was to Maya and Nicholas Langley, who raised him in the bustling arena of NYC. An unremarkable child, Kestrel was from a young age drawn to high places, and discovered his position as a minor deity of Gargoyles at the age of 6.
Then:
Kestrel's first, and only friend, was gained during kindergarten, when he pushed over a fellow classmate. To his surprise, the student didn't cry or lash out, but merely responded with an unusual comment beyond his years. Always drawn to the supernatural and the self sufficient, Kestrel developed a measure of respect for the boy. His parents, hopeful that the other young man would be a good influence, encouraged the friendship to flourish.
Unfortunately for them, with one companion, Kestrel did not feel the need to develop any others... At least, any his own age. Kestrel often came into possession of toys or items no child his age would have, and when questioned upon how he'd obtained them, would simply refuse to answer. By the time he reached his pre-teens, it was apparent that he had adult contacts who were providing him with whatever he wished for- to his parents' great concern and dismay. Not knowing that their son was merely drawing upon resident gargoyles subject to his control, they attempted to shield him from the world by sending him to a private school from middle school onward, and carefully keeping track of his whereabouts.
Now:
Now into adulthood, Kestrel no longer seeks toys and favors from his followers. He seeks power, more of it than gargoyles can provide. He seeks a place in the community of the supernatural, for gargoyle culture is scarce, many gargoyles being loners. While he's not entirely sure what he wants to do with the control he seeks, Kestrel is resolute in his actions.
He's also still close with Connor, the friend from his youth. The changeling is aware of Kestrel's powers, and is perhaps the only non-Gargoyle to know his friend's identity, or at least, the parts of it K has seen fit to divulge.
Despite his desire to win the attention of the supernatural community, K has a prejudice against Weres, seeing them not as supernatural but as animals, and treats them accordingly.

- Stone Transformation I As a Gargoyle, Kestrel has a stone form. Like all garogyles, he can transform at will during the day. However, as a deity, he is not subject to unwanted transformation and paralysis at nightfall. He is, however, considerably weakened at nightfall if in gargoyle form, and if in human form, requires a normal number of hours of sleep to maintain health and mental function.
- Electricity manipulation Watchers on high, gargoyles protect buildings from rain buildup as well as from electrical strikes. In Kestrel's case, as a deity, he is actually able to manipulate electricty. At his current level of ability, however, he can only do so in a limited fashion, and it is uncomfortable or even painful to take on too much. While stone is not harmed by electricity in the same way as flesh is, the vibration caused by touching electricity is enough to send a shudder down his spine, and too much contact can cause him to lose focus.
- Descendant Recognition Kestrel can sense proximal gargoyles (within half a mile), and can identify a gargoyle through sight alone. Any form of illusion or magical disguise will nullify this ability.
- Extra power: Affinity Communication Gargoyles have long been said to have an affinity with pidgeons, who roost on them, when other birds typically refuse to do so. What many aren't aware of, however, is that more powerful gargoyles can actually communicate with the birds, though whether the birds choose to obey them or not is another story. It's merely a shared language, not a guarantee of obedience.
- Followers II A small group of local gargoyles followers Kestrel for various reasons. Some incurred debts during his past lives, some hope to gain rank within their community, others follow him as part of their religious devotions.
- Influence I As a minor deity, Kestrel has the loyalty and ears of most gargoyles, though his influence does not extend beyond his own people.
