RANK. E AGE. Appears 21 DOB. claims 10.16 ETHNICITY. Watcher, so technically doesn't have one. OCCUPATION. odd jobs, finds missing people RESIDENCE. Stays in various hotel rooms | [atrb=width,100] |
[cs=2] Once: |
The opposite of love isn't hate- it's indifference.
The opposite of light isn't darkness. What it is, Zakia can not say, but she seeks it.
Zakia served faithfully as a watcher for decades. She sought and studied those with the potential to guide humanity down a brighter path. Stuck by them and did her best to keep them safe.
She lost her first protectee. The second. The third. Many were taken by old age. Some by sickness, some by accidents, some at the hands of other humans or animals.
The fifty-first was taken by a demon.
After that, everything changed.
Then:
Sometimes her orders came from other Watchers.
Sometimes she heard them within her mind, in voices she didn't have the words to describe.
Sometimes she simply 'knew' what she was supposed to do.
But none of that was concrete. The demon who had taken her charge claimed he'd been given orders by Lucifer himself, face to face, and had summoned him after the deed had been done. The darkest angel had not appeared, but a voice had spoken- and she'd been one of the many witnesses to what she believed was Satan's voice.
Watchers knew Lucifer existed. Watchers knew God existed. Watchers knew God was good and Lucifer was evil. But she'd seen evidence for only two of those facts- the existence of Lucifer, and the horrors of the deeds he ordered.
She was lost.
For months she wandered aimlessly, seeking other watchers, avoiding other watchers, reading books, burning books. Because a question had arisen that she simply could not ignore- what if God didn't exist?
And then she stumbled upon him- the man with the answers. The man who handed her a book for safe keeping. The man who convinced her that there was a God. That there was purpose. And that purpose was a terrible one.
Now:
No longer a Watcher but still a guardian of those she is drawn to, Zakia wanders. She seeks truth, or rather, proof- proof of collusion between God and Satan. Proof that the true purpose of the Watchers is being diverted, that they are being distracted by the petty tasks handed on to them to keep them busy and keep them from asking questions.
Zakia has and continues to work on side quests, on things that strike her as important. Unfortunately, none of her self-assigned tasks hold her interest long. She frequently comes up with new quests which she feels are of the utmost importance, but abandons them as false or unimportant just as quickly.
Zakia also seeks companionship, though this is difficult for her. She's out of place among humans, lacking the various life experiences the majority of them share. She also feels out of place among her own kind. Currently a lonely wanderer, Zakia wants friends almost as much as she wants to enlighten others to the truth and get them to join her on her investigation.

- Bliss & horror inducement While empathy-related powers are not unusual for watchers, Zakia has a rather limited spectrum. She can, via close proximity or physical contact, induce feelings of bliss or horror within a target. Inducing bliss in small doses can act as a soother/raise mood, but when done in excess there's a danger of making the person manic or subjecting them to delusions. Zakia is unaware of the latter effect. Inducing horror is fairly straightforward and a tactic Zakia uses on enemies as needed, however, if done in excess, it will also allow the person to become hypervigilant out of fear, which will give them a heightened ability to detect deception for as long as the fear effect lasts. As she's aware of this and wants to avoid benefiting her enemies, Zakia is cautious about using this effect.
- Psychic Shielding. I. Zakia carries her armor with her, retreating into it when overwhelmed or attacked. But unlike a snail or turtle, her protection isn't a physical exo-skeleton. Rather, it's the steel cage she's build within her mind, protecting herself from mind-reading or having thoughts placed in her mind. This also makes it difficult for her to receive telepathic communications, even from those she wants to 'hear'.
- Psychic Navigation. I. As a watcher, being able to locate individuals was invaluable to Zakia. These days, she draws on this skill more rarely, typically only when on a job. The farther the person is, the more difficult it will be for her to track them, and those with the ability or magic to prevent this can easily disrupt her ability. Being in possession of an item that was in extensive contact with the individual being tracked makes it easier/faster.
- Familiar. I. Tew the Raccoon. Due to her shielding ability, Zakia must be in close proximity (< 5 feet) of Tew for him to be able to communicate with her through the telepathic bond between person and familiar. She can 'speak' to him over larger distances, however.
- Artifact. I. A small book. The foremost pages are comprised of a ledger and a list of names, the latter various cryptic sentences. Zakia claims the book holds coded information about the conspiracy between God and Lucifer, and calculations and operations involving functions or design of the universe. While the book is clearly magical- new words periodically appear within the book, as do pages when there's little space left- her claims as to what it contains are dubious.
- Sanctum. I. A large church, or rather, one of the upper rooms of the church. Zakia stays there, and is in possession of the sole key- as she's the one who installed the lock. In return, she periodically assists the priest with fake exorcisms, using her powers to put on a show for the congregants. Unfortunately, as her familiar once bit one of the bishops, she's no longer allowed to linger in areas of the church other than her own little room.
