| [cs=2] Less than two months ago, Riley Fitzgerald was living the dream life. After graduating college, he became a successful journalist for an important, sensationally well read magazine in New York, had a great apartment in Queens, and spent all of his time outside of work in clubs and out with friends. But everything changed so rapidly that he still hasn't quite gotten his head wrapped around it all. Being born into a normal, upper middle class family meant that Riley had no idea that the monsters and ghouls from his childhood nightmares were real, and it came as a real shock when he was attacked by a vampire on his vacation. In the vampire's defense, it was quite cold outside, and well, er...warm drinks do seem just the ticket in that sort of weather? Plus the guy was starving, and he didn't really mean to feed off of him. But still, having your neck sucked by a complete stranger and being forced to drink their blood can have an effect on a guy. The first chance he got, he high tailed it out of there and made a bee line for home. Of course when he got back, he realized he had no idea what the hell was going on and he'd forgotten to ask for a Vampirism for Beginners manual, so there was a slight...learning curve (after a few incidents with sunlight, he decided it was probably best to avoid it altogeher, and aloe became his new best friend). He was just getting the hang of it when his second surprise was dropped into his lap. A daughter. Almost two years before, he'd been in a very serious relationship with his high school sweetheart. Only she wasn't very sweet and didn't seem to have a heart at all when she took off for someone else with more money. But karma kicked her in the ass, and her new man left her for someone better. When she didn't have the perfect husband for her family, she didn't want it anymore. So she handed off the little girl and took off for god knows where. So now, the once trendy human magazine journalist with nothing but free time has become a hands-full vampiric single dad with a lot of learning to do. If you see an S.O.S. signal in the sky, don't worry. It's probably just a full diaper. | |
