QUEENS sites and landmarks |
Queens is straight east of Manhattan. Like it's sleeper community, it's waking community is one of the most diverse in the world. A full half of the population are first-generation immigrants, and many foreign wakers, fae, demons, and all other sorts find themselves in Queens. Sing Sing - A karaoke bar in Flushing, it's cheap to get in, and there's usually a happy, tipsy crowd that isn't too hard on the ears. While the establishment doesn't care to cater to wakers, it is run by a watcher with a beautiful voice. The owner can usually be coerced into a song or two each night, and anyone that's heard him sing will tell you it's an experience to die for. Mirror - An obnoxiously loud and active night club, Mirror is one of the pricier places to dance the night away. Sleepers figure that this is because the music is good, and the proprietors want to keep the cheapskates out. In truth, anyone who knows where they're going can find their way into the club's basement, where they'll find a hallway lined with rooms all lined in mirrors. The mirrors will take you to another Mirror nightclub in a different part of the world. The cost for travel? You already paid it at the door. Syrah - Primarily a hookah and wine bar, Syrah also serves all sorts of small eats: fresh figs and blanched nuts, homemade hummus, nougats, baklava, etc. The regular crowd's a bunch of working djiini and watchers relaxing after a good day's work, so the atmosphere to low-key and suitable for thoughtful conversation with good company.
