[cs=2] due to most americans' difficulty in pronouncing the first letter of her name, qiu yue feng usually goes by 'yue' to most, and 'xiao qiu' to chinese friends. her family calls her 'fan tong' (meal bucket) in honor of her voracious appetite, but anyone else who calls her that is dead meat. yue is one of those people who will act first and think about the consequences later. think shounen jump lead charachters. yeah. she wouldn't call herself impulsive, but things don't always end up as bad as people think they do, yanno? 'sides, she's more than capable of taking care of her own shit. at least her friends hope so. yue was born to a couple of second-generation chinese-americans who own the jade dragon restaurant in chinatown. yue's always followed her own compass, but that's not to say that she's completely irresponsible when she owes a thing or two to other people. you can probably see her working as a waitress at her family's restaurant on the weekends or during vacations. what really started yue's kickboxing gig was the night that she was mugged in midtown. it was only a sleeper with a knife, but the event scared the shit out of her. yue never wanted to feel that powerless ever again, so she made the decision to take up kickboxing a week later. yue proved to be unusually gifted at the sport and won a few titles here and there. by high school, she made her own allowance by letting her classmates hire her as a bodyguard during after-hours. of course, a business like that ensured that she would get into some shady dealings eventually. yue lucked out and escaped unscathed, but she never returned to that particular business in fear of her friends' and family's safety. nyu was kind of a bitch to pay for, but that's why yue is living at her folks' home, which is situated on the second floor of the restaurant. it's kind of lame when all her friends are living on-campus, but her father tells her that's what she gets for never striving for that one extra academic scholarship. there weren't really many scholarships for kickboxing, but yue doesn't see any room for regrets. she figures that she'll just go into some fancy business program, get stinkin' rich by climbing that corporate ladder by sheer willpower, and pay off all that debt. yeah, yue might be a bit naive in the game of life, but at least her heart is in the right place? yue isn't exactly having the time of her life as an economics major, but she figures that she's caused her mom enough grief as it is. but yeah, she's that chick. the chick who will probably risk a limb for one of her friends. anyone who hurts who she cares about it getting their teeth knocked out. that's a promise. the only real set of ethics she follows is her own. she sees no point in following someone else's judgement calls. yue is still rather blissfully unaware of the waker world, but that will probably be subject to change. and yeah, she does speak some chinese, in case you're wondering. | |
