UNION SQUARE sites and landmarks |
Union Square is a historic intersection at Broadway and Fourth Avenue. It's been the site of many political and social demonstrations, and in fact, it has always been a gathering place in times of change, upheaval, and even distress. Many subway lines stop here, and it is a good location for shops, including a regular farmer's market and an annual holiday market as well. Greenmarket - The largest farmer's market in the city, Greenmarket is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, offering a huge variety of fresh produce, far more than any supermarket. If you know who to go to, you can find your regular run of cursed apples sold by a wicked witch. Opaline - A five-star restaurant atop a five-star hotel, the Opaline is one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, but the food is perfection itself. Unbeknownst to sleeper patrons, their food is laced with charms to heighten dreams and emotions. Run by very corporate-minded and disciplined fae, the establishment only moderately drains the hectic dreams and ecstatic highs of their guests. Union Square Park - Not exactly huge, Union Square Park is a couple blocks' worth of green north of Union Square. This is the place where rallyers all throughout Manhattan's history have gathered in demonstrations. Like most historic spots, there are lingering ghosts, some that loathe the place but mostly those good souls that live on even in death to protect it.
