CHINATOWN sites and landmarks |
Manhattan's Chinatown is home to the largest enclave of Chinese people in the Western world. Now more a tourist spot than anything else, most Chinese and other Asian immigrants go to Brooklyn or Flushing where real estate is more affordable. Still, the cramped tenement buildings in Chinatown house plenty of fob immigrants, waker and sleeper alike. Canal Street - Where Chinatown meets Little Italy (which doesn't have its own forum, feel free to use this one), Canal Street is the best place to pick up a fake Gucci purse to give to your distant cousin for the holidays. Wakers also make some use of knock-offs. For the most part, a waker wants real spell components, but if they can't afford a one-of-a-kind handcrafted magic wand imported from a Tibetan monastery, a cheap knock-off should work too, right? ...Right? Ying House - A fortune-telling house, maybe. It's clearly a tourist trap, but a well constructed ones with brilliant interior design caught somewhere between sheer splendor and utter camp. While a few of the fortune-tellers there are the real deal, they're most noteworthy for being a small enclave of bodhisattvas. If asked politely, they will give good counsel and share their wisdom. Hearts Lion - A gambling den that stepped right out of a Bond movie, Hearts Lion is run by a single unknown deity whose face has never been seen. All manner of beings go to Hearts Lion if they're up to play for the biggest stakes. It's a black tie sort of place, oozing glamor and class. They're open to hosting special events that are always VIP only. If you would like to add a location here, feel free to respond to this thread with the following template.
