GREENWICH VILLAGE sites and landmarks |
Greenwich Village was once considered the capitol of bohemia, but gentrification and skyrocketing cost of living sent starving artists for more affordable pastures. Today, besides for being one of the most expensive places to live in the city, the Village still retains its identity as a lively, liberal neighborhood with a huge appreciation for the arts. The Village is home to many celebrities, including the rich and famous of the wakers' world. Theater des Vampires - An off-broadway theater of vampires, which is what it says on the tin. Considered just a theater for aficionados of gothic romance, its entire cast and crew are vampires and their herd. Their productions are usually quite good if you enjoy black lace, dramatic monologues, and sweeping violin solos. Crown - A LGBT-friendly waker establishment, where you can bump shoulders with mages, demons, were-things, and anything else interested in a good time or a even better night. The lights are blinding and the music is deafening, but you can hear yourself think once you've got some distance from the dance floor. The bouncers are all passable scryers that have one job: to tell any sleeper that tries to enter that Crown is members-only, so shoo. The New School - The New School is a university that includes the Lang College for liberal arts and Parsons School for Design. They have about as many wakers and you'd expect. Mu Omega is a not-so-secret fraternity here. With an chapter house operating right out in the open, even sleeper students can recognize their letters, but they don't have a clue how one actually joins Mu Omega.
