ROCKEFELLER CENTER sites and landmarks |
Rockefeller Center is a series of some twenty commercial buildings in the center of Midtown, straight south of Central Park and sandwiched between Midtown East and Hell's Kitchen. Various tv channels and other corporations operate from Rockefeller Center, and there are attractions for anybody: the annual Christmas tree, the ice-skating rink, an underground concourse, and all sorts of shopping. A lively part of town, it's considered ideal for both family outings and first dates. As a rule of thumb, Rockefeller Center doesn't have many wakers. Radio City Music Hall - Once considered the biggest and bestest of theaters, Radio City Music Hall is no longer the largest or the most opulent in the world, but it's still a damned fine place. There is a ghost of a dancer girl here that many have seen. She's known to be mischievous to the cast and crew but otherwise harmless. Kirino Sushi and Sake - Kirino is a Japanese restaurant in the underground concourse, and they serve more than just sushi and sake. At the bar and high tables up by the entrance, they'll serve proper meals, but the lounge area in back is Kirino's claim to fame. Effectively a tea house that prefers serving sake, it is a good place for quiet and slightly drunken conversation amongst good company. Rose Piano Lounge - A very, very romantic drinking lounge that's meant to seat pairs behind curtains of gauze and velvet, the Rose Piano Lounge is a bit over-the-top, but for some people, the perfect place. It's owned by a fallen angel who enjoys seeing happy couples. If the drink is charmed to make people drop two-bit romance novel lines, well, there's no crime against cheese, right?
