MIDTOWN WEST sites and landmarks |
Midtown West, more commonly known as Hell's Kitchen, is home to some of the best food in Manhattan and some of the grittiest wakers. While the rough and tumble reputation of the sleeper community in the area might be little more now than a song and a memory, the wakers never got this message. Generally this area is the stomping ground of omega weres who have been run out of more pack-dominated areas, rogue vampires and assorted criminals. New York Public Library - This branch of the NYPL system on 10th Ave might lack the Beaux-Arts architecture, amazing collection and attentive librarians of the main location but fuck you, it's what you've got. Cozy and small, it's a proper neighborhood library, and while they may not have exactly what you're looking for, they're guaranteed to have something. One of the full-time librarian assistants here is young for a demon, and usually willing to dig up legitimate magical reference books if you palm him some money and a new piece of gossip. Red Miles - Ostensibly an indie gaming shop on W 51st Street, in reality this little place is run by a magi couple who sell thaumaturgy supplies and spells. The quality is at times debatable, but the price is too good to pass up, and most of their customers aren't in the position to complain, anyway. DeWitt Clinton Park - A neighborhood jam-packed with unscrupulous types of wakers is eventually going to have outbursts of bloodshed. Even the most violently-inclined wakers, though, aren't so stupid as to out themselves over a brawl (well, hopefully they aren't) and there's bit of a system set up where if you really want to fight someone, you schedule to meet them in Clinton Park. Sometimes if the two figures are notorious enough, a mini audience of those in the know will show up from the bars, bets will be placed on who ends up dead, and who ends up dead as revenge for that first death, etc. Keeps the local economy running. Of course not everyone plays by these rules, but those that do provide a nice bit of local dramatic flair.
