OOC Notice: I'm going to use this thread for Mildred's little 'behind the scenes' activities that don't really fit in with her activities around town, or for anything that occurs in her apartment unless it's with another person.
An hour or two of walking had settled Mildred's weirdly off-kilter mood. Though the box she held was a little heavy and awkward, the weight was a nice reminder of something cool that she had gotten herself. The rest of her night, after her purchase in Midtown East, had been uneventful and relatively quiet. It probably helped that she took the more quiet routes home, but anyway, she was glad to be back. She stood, shifting from one foot to the other in the elevator, ignoring the mirrors around her, staring up at the lights slowly ticking the way up to her floor. With a ding that she was quite used to by now, she walked through the opening doors and walked down the hall to her door. A jingle of keys with cute charms attached and a click or two later, Mildred was home.
As she closed the door behind her, she breathed a sigh of relief. It'd been a really weird night. She'd sworn she'd heard a woman's voice follow her out the store, and the whole bite on her hand, and the awkward, itchy feeling that was probably half allergies (Did vampires have allergies? She'd never had to wonder until now) she was glad to get away from it all, and closing the door meant closing the brief chapter in her life that was 'tonight'. She dumped the box rather unceremoniously on the table and prepared for a quiet day's rest.
She wondered if vampires in other cities had more trouble functioning. Here, enough sleepers were nocturnal that it wasn't really a big deal, even if she did look like a student half the time, but she imagined in smaller cities or even towns it was a harder life. It was part of the reason she'd chosen New York, after all, with Las Vegas a close second. She just didn't like all that sand and dirt flying around all the time over there.
She plopped herself onto her rather unnecessarily fluffy and ruffled bed and emptied her pockets as she usually did when she noticed something.
Her damn card was missing.
The card.
She'd only used it once that night, and it was back at the... It was back at the damn store.
With the cat.
Frustrated, she simply fell back onto the blanket, pressing the back of her hand into her eyes.
She'd have to go back as soon as possible, or face His rather inconvenient wrath.
