She breathed out slowly. Okay. Four hun, she could deal with that. As for trade... She didn't have anything of note on hand. After all, a schoolgirl wouldn't have anything fancy. She wasn't even carrying a backpack. No textbooks to offer as a pitiful excuse for a trade, no worn gym clothes to pawn off. She felt a little guilty, really. That was how the antiques road show worked, wasn't it? Trades, and stuff? Like trading cards, only with furniture. (Mildred was woefully uninformed about the antique scene.) She supposed 'headquarters', as she gingerly called it, would be a treasure trove to this man, but she wasn't about to steal from the order. She was much too comfortable in her current lifestyle to do that, and besides a little hint of kindness towards this guy, there was just no reason to do it. There was a calculating look to her eyes, the snobby brat persona off guard for now.
"No, four hundred is okay." It was almost like an aside, as she went through various thoughts in her mind. She pulled the credit card out of her blazer pocket, skipping the twelve dollars and fifty cents that she had half-planned on taunting him with next. She handed it to him, to allow him to slide -- he didn't expect her to do it, did he? -- and looked back down at the blades. What was she doing, right now?
This was basically a random purchase, not necessary. She was usually much more frugal, especially when it came to something that was half decoration, but something about it all...
That itching sensation again, and then the sound of the door closing shook her out of it.
"Aww," she said, the sickening tone back in her voice. "What a smart kitty~" The 'kitty' was intoned as if it was actually spelt 'kyetty', and she knelt down as she left the card and her trust in Varnock's hands. She offered a hand again, smiling at the cat. Little, sharpened canines may or may not have been noticeable, especially to someone, or something, with sharp eyes... such as a cat. But who was to say?

He nodded and silently swiped the card to let the numbers run as he carefully began to pack the knife set into a box. "Would you like some tips on how to take care of the knives or to maybe buy something else from my fine establishment?" He chuckled at Ellen being called a kitty as he presented the card back and continued to box the knives.
Ellen on the other hand bristled at the laughter and being called kitty in such an odd manner. Ellen eyed the hand approaching her and the teeth of the smile before giving the hand a light bite. It wouldn't hurt very much, but it should surprise her enough to open that mouth more. Ellen had something she want to see.
Varnock wasn't amused by the thoughts going through Ellen's head as he leaned over the counter a bit to see what in the world was going on. "Is something wrong down there?"

Mildred was caught off guard as the little needle-like teeth pricked her skin. Her mouth opened like an 'O', briefly, before she brought her hand up to her mouth. Whether it was to cover her fangs or to nurse the wound, it wasn't clear, but either way her eyes glittered at the cat as she stood up straight, smoothing out the front of her skirt absentmindedly as she did.
"N-no, no, I'm quite alright," she said, her voice back to her own, normal tone. It wasn't often she was surprised like that, but she just wasn't paying attention. "I'll just, uh, go now. Thank you." She was so off, and just from a little surprise. Tonight was weird, that was for sure. This shop, that cat... She felt like there was something she wasn't quite understanding, something that felt like it ought to be on the tip of her tongue. Either way, there was something she was missing. "Thank you very much." She repeated herself without realizing. With that, she quickly grabbed the box and left the shop. She wasn't running away or anything. She was just leaving, that was all.
Damn cats.
She was so caught up in her exit that she didn't realize she left her credit card with Varnock... or rather, the card she used to access her 'father's' funds.

Ellen spoke up from her place on the floor with what could only be called a smug look. "Come back soon girl. I would love to talk to you later." If heard in the hasty exit the feminine voice might be surprising to the fleeing vampire.
Varnock shot Ellen a very surprised look himself. "What in the hell are you doing Ellen? Are you trying to blow my cover? He ran a hand through his hair as he looked at the forgotten credit card too. "Great now I have to find her or wait for her to come back to return this..."
Ellen laughed as she jumped up on the counter and eyed the card herself. "That was no Sleeper. I'd had some suspicion she wasn't normal for a while there, but those teeth gave it away. The girl you just sold knives to happens to be a vampire. Or a have a lot of money to waste on porcelain fangs."
Varnock just ran his hand through his hair once more as he replaced the other knife set where it belonged and put the credit card in the safe for safe keeping. Hopefully she wasn't some cosplaying teenager. Ellen might have scared the hell out of the poor girl. He moved back to his rooms above the shop to continue his reading and hoped nothing else like this was going to happen anytime soon.
